The Vision

NCBW

            Greater Cleveland Chapter

We envision a
community where
all Black females
are nurtured and
empowered to

dedicate their time,

talents and resources to ensuring they are at the decision-making table, a part of the conversation, to address issues that impact Black women, their families
and communities.

The National Congress
of Black Women Headquartered in the nation’s capital,
The National Congress of
Black Women, Inc. (NCBW) is a
nonprofit organization founded by the
late former United States
Congresswoman Shirley Chislom and
the first African American female
US Secretary of State C. Delores Tucker
more than 30 years ago. Under the
current leadership of
Dr. E. Faye Williams, Esquire, NCBW
continues to fulfill the vision of its
founders by serving as a nonpartisan
voice and instrument on issues
pertaining to the appointment
of women at all levels of government
and to increase minority women’s
participation in the educational,
political, economic, and social arenas. The purposes of
NCBW are to:
• Serve as a non-partisan voice and
 instrument for election and
 appointment of African-American
women at all levels of government.
 • Encourage Black women to engage
 in non-partisan leadership activities
 within the educational, economic,
 social and political arenas.
 • Engage in research and fact-finding
 on critical issues uniquely affecting
the quality of life of Black women.
 • Participate in the development of
 policies, platforms and strategies
of political parties that address the
 needs and aspirations of the
Black community. • Encourage the parity appointment
of Black women at all levels of the
 party structure.
 • Develop and advocate public policy
 positions, which advance the
 educational, economic, social and
 political interest of Black women,
 their families and communities.
 • Engage Black women in voter
 registration, political education,
 forums and seminars to better
 project their concerns in the
 public arena.
 • Provides training and internships
at national, state and local levels
to enable members and young people
to gain the knowledge required to
 understand, operate and participate
 within the educational, economic,
 social and political arenas.

THE GREATER
CLEVELAND CHAPTER
 The National Congress of
Black Women Greater Cleveland
Chapter (NCBW-GCC)
formed on September 18, 2016
during NCBW’s 32nd Annual Awards

Maryland. Then, on Saturday,
October 8, 2016, the Chapter
partnered with national and state
organizations to host a meeting with
Black women leaders to hear
and discuss the latest information
on Black Voter Messaging and the
Black Women’s Roundtable
Essence Report of Black Women. The NCBW-GCC held a chapter
reception to install its inaugural officers
on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at the

even more tenacious and focused on
developing and advocating public
policy positions on matters such as the
preschool to prison pipeline, access
to healthcare, healthy food, and equal
rights as well as engaging Black
women in non-partisan leadership
activities and building tomorrow’s
leaders with active roles for younger
members and officers.
